A SIM Only Plan is a card with a plan that includes minutes/SMS and mobile data, allowing you to communicate for a specific period, usually a month or 4 weeks. We offer two options: postpaid and prepaid. If you need a device such as a smartphone to use the card, you can check the models and prices here.
A postpaid plan is associated with a contract and allows you to use the included minutes/SMS and data for a month. At the end of that month, you will receive your bill via email or at your address, and it can be paid through online banking, a NOS store, or via direct debit. Some postpaid plans have a minimum contract duration - 24 months for mobile voice or 12 months for mobile internet, with discounts on devices. On the other hand, with a prepaid tariff, you need to have available credit equal to or greater than the monthly fee.
Subscribing online is a simple and quick process. Just fill out your information, such as your name and the delivery address for the card. We advise that the delivery address for your card be, for example, the address of the hotel or apartment where you will be staying in Portugal.
Some postpaid plans have a loyalty period of 24 months or 12 months. In the case of mobile voice, there is a 24-month period, while mobile internet with discounts on devices has a 12-month period to avoid additional activation costs. If you do not wish to have a loyalty period, we recommend subscribing to a postpaid tariff without loyalty (this is always indicated in the plan details) or prepaid tariffs.
If you have a postpaid plan, you don't have to worry about having available credit for the renewal of minutes, SMS, and mobile data. The renewal always occurs on the 1st day of each month. For prepaid tariffs, the renewal of benefits happens on a fixed day, after the deduction of the monthly fee from your credit balance. To renew your minutes, SMS, and mobile data, you need to have available credit equal to or greater than the monthly fee. If you don't have sufficient credit, you have until 2:00 PM to recharge.
You can check the current balance information in the NOS app or in the Customer Area (Área de Cliente). If you have a monthly plan, whether prepaid or postpaid, you can check the value in euros, as well as the available and used minutes, SMS, and mobile data.
You can top up your prepaid card through the NOS App or in the Customer Area, using a credit card or MBWay. You can also top-up at nos.pt/recarga, using Mbway. Alternatively, you can top up through online banking or at an ATM (Multibanco).
All NOS customers will be able to benefit from this new technology. To do so, you will need to be located in an area covered by the NOS 5G network, have a 5G-enabled device, and a voice or mobile internet plan that provides access to 5G.
